The National Alliance for Caregiving provides support for family caregivers and the professionals who help them. It works to increase public awareness about issues facing caregivers. Their website, www.caregiving.org features publications and resources. It lists upcoming events and caregiving coalitions.
NATIONAL FAMILY CAREGIVERS ASSOCIATION
The National Family Caregivers Association (NFCA) educates, supports and speaks out on topics relating to caregiving. See their website www.nfcacares.org for resources and the latest caregiver news. NFCA has created the Caregiver Community Action Network, a state network of volunteers who help others find information and support. Share your story in the NFCA Caregiver Story Project. Ask questions and participate in discussions on their Caregiver Message Board.
AARP has created a comprehensive set of resources to support caregivers. Their online seminar is a self-taught guide that addresses Planning for the Care of Aging Parents, Providing the Care, Managing Caregiving Details, Housing, Talking about Independent Living and more. For archives of caregiving articles in their magazine, see www.aarpmagazine.org/family/caregiving. AARP also published a book titled "Caring for Your Parents: The Complete AARP Guide" by Hugh Delehanty and Elinor Ginzler. For your convenience, we included that book in our Amazon Associate store.

The Family Caregiver Alliance National Center on Caregiving is a health services organization offering information, education and support to families caring for loved ones in their homes. Their website www.caregiver.org is a treasure trove of resources including a 50-state searchable resource map, a caregiver’s guide to medication and aging, extensive fact sheets and publications on medical and caregiving issues, a handbook for long-distance caregiving and more. Some information is available in Spanish and Chinese.

The Los Angeles Caregiver Resource Center, a part of the Andrus Center for Gerontology at The University of Southern California, is a nonprofit organization funded in part by the California Department of Mental Health. The Center is part of a statewide system of regional resource centers serving families and caregivers of adults with brain impairment. The Center offers resources, information, support groups and family consultations for those caring at home for adults with brain impairments. They suggest alternatives when home care is no longer feasible.
Link2Care
www.link2care.net is an online information and support program for family caregivers in California. The resources are specifically designed for those providing care for someone living with disease-related dementia, including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis or stroke. At a free, password-protected Internet site, users can consult experts for medical, legal and caregiving advice. Link2Care is a project of Family Caregiver Alliance and California’s Caregiver Resource Centers.
